Just to let you know that Oneplanet Adventure Team rider Mike ‘The Chicken’ Thickens has just got back from France having won the Cadet class in the MegaPromo race at Alp D’heuz.

Mikey has been wanting to do the event for years but only this year was he old enough (Aged 16). He narrowly missed out on a place in the Megavalanche having qualified with a time of 38min 52secs, putting many more experienced riders to shame.

All week his riding was incredibly consistent and not once did nerves play a part in his performance.

Mikey is a guy who refuses to follow the pack, riding his 2006 Kona CoilAir and wearing his now legendary Steel Toecap Boots he took the intimidating course in his stride to scream down the mountain in a time of 1hr 16min 42sec.

Not only did Mikey win the Cadet Category, but we reckon he placed in the top 10 brits in the MegaPromo.

A big well done also has to go out to fellow Team Oneplanet Adventure rider Ali Collett who finished a credible 19th in the womens event and we reckon was 2nd Brit down in a time of 1hr 34min 53sec. Not bad for a girl who has only been riding about a year and in her first mountain bike competition.
