Llandegla wins the ‘Best Bacon Buttie in Britain’ Award
Oneplanet Adventure, the company responsible for the facilities at the Coed Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre, has just picked up a unique and well-deserved award.
The ‘Best Bacon Buttie in Britain’ accolade was awarded by BMW Good Food Ride. This award was achieved following some, no doubt arduous, bacon buttie sampling and mystery shopping on the part of the BMW Good Food Ride, and it rewards Ian Owen and Jim Gaffney, who run the Centre, for their hard work in developing a great facility for visitors to chill out after riding the trails.
In keeping with the sustainable theme of the centre, all the food served in the café is from local suppliers; the bacon is from M E Evans, a butcher in Wrexham Meat Market, and baps are from The Village Bakery in Coedpoeth.
So if you’ve not tried one of Ian’s butties, now’s the time. And while you’re there, don’t forget the far-reaching reputation of the Centre’s home-made cakes... could these be another award in the making?
